Media test for my media studio course. Used guache to mask areas, then covered it all in waterproof india ink, then washed the ink off.
This is the effect that happens.  Pretty cool I think. If you'd like a more explained step by step instruction for this, just ask. India Ink, White Gouache on illustration board. Steps for this - Sketch on fairly heavy illustration board in a light pencil (I used a 4H) - Mix your gouache to a thick cream consitancy. Apply to ALL of the areas you wish to be white. For this, I advoided the edges and used my fingers to dab at it to get that border grunge effect. I also splattered the gouache across my picture. Let your gouache dry. - Cover the ENTIRE board in a coat of WATERPROOF permanent india ink. DO NOT use calligraphy ink. Now, here's were you have some fun... Test a few of these to see how long you want your ink to dry.. The longer you let it dry, the more black you get. I Didn't let mine totally dry, which is why I have grey areas. - Go back in with your gouace and ink to lighten and darked any areas you're not happy with.  EASY! Wheee! |

We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you  the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on.
